This time. More than any other time. We’re going to find a way. Find a way to express key drivers of our unique but non‑prescriptive footballing DNA under a holistic development pathway. Getting it all together. We’re on our way!
Well, that’s all done now. England will be present at Russia 2018 after a room temperature qualifying campaign reached a grippingly dull resolution against Slovenia at Wembley. And really, it is worth remembering that for those who follow England these are the good times. With a place in the velvet ball bag assured we have a small interlude to purr at the prospect of wandering around the vast city-scapes of Europe’s great alien superpower worrying about Gary Cahill’s minor calf strain; to argue with doltish enthusiasm about tactics and selection; and above all to dream a little. Although if you believe the publicity it seems likely Gareth Southgate and his team of FA wonks, hangers-on and brochure‑wanglers are just as likely to spend the next few months worrying about the wider existential questions that have preoccupied the current FA.
This is where we are in the many ages of England football, a journey from post-imperial delusion, to bruised hope, to a regime wreathed in sombre, damp‑eyed, cod-intellectual introspection, the endless blather about identity and DNA, the ludicrous idea of implanting a mannered, off-the-peg possession football at every level.
In the shadow of which it is easy to forget that success or failure at football isn’t a register of “who you are”, a matter of tapping into some deeper well of a more righteous strain of Englishness. Cam Ward Authentic Jersey Football is still also a sport of fine details and pragmatism; just as England do have genuine talent that needs to be nurtured and presented in the right way.
Most would accept the obvious hope is to pin the entire tactical jig on finding the right chemistry for the attacking talents of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Marcus Rashford. I would add something more to this. Behind that attack, but also linked to how England hope to play, Southgate could do a lot worse than take a tip from Pep Guardiola and put as much energy as possible into wringing the most out of John Stones.
Yes, that John Stones. The same Stones who was, it must be said, terrible on Thursday night, who gave the ball away and might have been sent off. http://www.officialcarolinahurricanes.com/Adidas-Eddie-Lack-Jersey The same Stones who remains England’s most talented player outside the front three. And the same Stones who embodies better than anyone else right now the phenomenon of good club players completely unable to transfer their talents to England even in a more insulating tactical system.
For much of the game against Slovenia he resembled the Stones of last season, a player so often dismissed with a genuine anger as effete and uppity, a ball-playing English defender with the nerve – the stones on this guy – to make the odd mistake.
The images are still vivid, Stones looking pale, frazzled and ill, constantly in the process of playing some doomed square pass towards a cartwheeling Claudio Bravo while the TV commentator says things like “Stones, Chris Kelly Authentic Jersey again” and the camera cuts to Guardiola looking pensive in a pair of patent leather Converse and a goose-down existentialist’s turtle neck, scratching his chin and muttering things like “lateral transition failure” before suddenly dropping to one knee and performing a wildly energetic mime of a man trapped inside a small glass tube.
As recently as March, a horribly damning stat was doing the rounds stating that Stones had made more errors leading directly to a goal than any other outfield player in Europe’s top five leagues that season. And yet, Stones’s improvement with Manchester City this season has been pronounced and predictable. Maybe what he needed was simply a decent goalkeeper behind him, a season to bed in and a little confidence. He still glides out and tries to pass to a team-mate. But he’s also done less of the tricky stuff, playing instead right up close to the back of his midfield in a system that challenges him to focus at all times and to be constantly involved.
He has racked up some wonderful stats in the process. In the Premier League, Stones has completed 431 of 466 passes this season, http://www.officialottawasenators.com/Adidas-Chris-Driedger-Jersey committed three fouls and been dispossessed once. City have conceded one goal with Stones on the pitch. Get this, too: England have yet to concede a goal in any competitive game in which Stones has played. His record: played eight, won seven, no goals conceded. He may be error-prone, a little cocky and playing in a team that attacks rather than defends (although he sees a lot of the ball), but Stones is clearly doing something right here.

Brace yourselves for a roaring climax in Cardiff. This victory means the Republic of Ireland will travel to Wales knowing that, if either side wins Monday’s feverishly anticipated Celtic duel, it will be certain of finishing in second place, at least, in Group D. Top spot will be up for grabs in the unlikely event of the leaders, Serbia, stumbling at home to Georgia. “It’s there for us,” said Martin O’Neill. “Let’s go for it.”
Daryl Murphy made sure there was no spoilsport deviation from that script by scoring twice here to dispatch the group’s bottom side. Murphy and Callum O’Dowda, in particular, made strong cases for roles in Monday’s match and eased criticism of O’Neill in advance of a much fiercer test.
Opinions among Irish supporters are evenly split as to whether O’Neill and his assistant, Roy Keane, have got the best out of the resources available to them so there was widespread bemusement when the Football Association of Ireland let it be known that the pair have been offered a new contract even before the outcome of the current campaign is clear.
O’Neill intimated that one of the reasons he is eager to remain at the helm is to integrate exciting young players. He began that process against Moldova by giving a first competitive start to 22-year-old O’Dowda. Adidas Eddie Lack Womens Jersey The Bristol City winger was chosen ahead of Aiden McGeady to replace the suspended James McClean, who will probably return to the showdown in Cardiff, as will Robbie Brady.
O’Dowda’s selection was quickly vindicated here. So was the manager’s decision to start Murphy up front in spite of calls for him to hand first international starts to the Preston striker Sean Maguire or Aston Villa’s Scott Hogan.
Murphy began alongside Shane Long and the 34-year-old took his Nottingham Forest form on to the international stage, hitting two goals in the first half, http://www.authenticcarolinahurricanes.com/authentic-cam-ward-jersey doubling the tally he had managed in his previous 29 games for his country.
It took only 90 seconds for Murphy to strike. Ireland’s first goal involved no conjuring from Wes Hoolahan, another encouraging inclusion in the starting line-up. Instead Stephen Ward created it with a long throw-in, which was flicked on inadvertently by a defender. Murphy reacted quickest to hook a left-footed volley into the net from five yards.
The thrusting O’Dowda tried to increase their lead after 10 minutes, Authentic Adidas Brett Hull Womens Jersey curling a shot just wide from the edge of the area, and he continued to justify his inclusion by producing a lovely flourish in the 15th minute that should have resulted in another goal. He showed power and subtlety to elude two defenders before calmly teeing up Long, who shot wide from 12 yards.
Then Ward and Murphy combined again, yielding a more elegant goal than the first. Ward raced on to a fine diagonal pass from Hoolahan before delivering a grand cross to the back post, inviting Murphy to boom a header back across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.
O’Dowda might have inflicted more damage moments later but was thwarted by Ilie Cebanu. http://www.authenticdetroitredwings.com/authentic-brendan-shanahan-jersey Then Ireland’s goalkeeper, Darren Randolph, had to demonstrate his alertness to prevent Moldova from scoring out of the blue, Sergiu Platica’s sudden blast from 25 yards bringing a fingertip save from the Middlesbrough player.

In the years after the fall of the Berlin Wall a phenomenon bubbled up in Eastern Europe called “ostalgie”, or nostalgia for the old east. Seized with ostalgie, citizens of the new world found themselves tiring of the glories of capitalism, with its treacly soft drinks, unfettered access to soft-rock music and a natureless ecstasy of identical consumer products; and yearning instead for the old certainties of communism, the gulag and mass-produced cardboard trousers. As recently as last year a majority of Romanians said they missed the murderous despot Nicolae Ceausescu. Presumably, again, because you knew where you stood and the statues were nice.
It goes to show you can miss anything if you really want to. With exceptions of course. For example there are to date no documented examples of what social scientists might call “Moyestalgia”, which is defined as nostalgia for the events and personnel of David Moyes’s time in charge of Manchester United over 10 grippingly doomed months between July 2013 and April 2014.
I think I know why this is. I think it’s because it was a terrible time when nothing good happened. But for the neutral there is still something grippingly cinematic about the basic category-mistake of Moyes at United, a man not so much out of his depth as tossed and tumbled head over heels in a vast tide of industrial-scale confusion. Squint and you can still just about see his pale, frazzled ghost wandering about on the touchline, still looking like a doomed wedding cake figurine in his sad blue suit, shouting at shadows, pointing at things that never happened, feeling the ground beneath his shiny little shoes shift and fall away.
At the end of which there is a still a chance to take a different memory from this. Antwione Williams Youth Jersey On the face of it José Mourinho’s current title contenders have almost nothing in common with the brown-paper-and-string stylings of the Moyes succession. From De Gea to Lukaku, through Bailly-Jones-Pogba-Matic and the controlled creativity of Rashford-Martial this second-season team has a classic Mourinho spine in place, those powerful interlocking units that have marked his most successful moments.
Almost nothing, but not quite. In the last few weeks it has been fascinating to see a couple of Moyesian hangovers integrated into the machine. Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata were the only players signed under Moyes. Even at the time they seemed oddly mismatched, evidence in their silhouettes alone of a certain confusion. On the one hand an awkward, angular midfield wardrobe. On the other a technician whose entire career has been a triumph of vision and skill over his own slight physique.
In the years since both players have been a little bruised and marginalised. Mata and Fellaini are both 29 now and in the last year of their contracts. http://www.lionsshopnfljersey.com/authentic-andrew-quarless-jersey.html No other player has come to United for that much money and stayed for this long without winning a league title (even Juan Sebastián Verón got one of those). For all the good moments, they are still on some level, a part of the unforgiven.
Except there is a chance now for an alternative ending. Neither looks like a first-choice starter with everyone fit. But both have become functioning parts in a team that has drawn drooling reviews for its power, its unity of purpose, the sheer relief of no longer looking like an odd-job of high-priced parts. This is in its own way an act of genuine team building, the ability to integrate a pair of wobbly wheels and weld them to the main frame.
Even then Mata and Fellaini stand out. And not only for that air of shared survivor-dom but for something agreeably timeless and touching, a little soul, Bobby Cox Youth Jersey a few scars. If Fellaini can recover his fitness in time they may even appear against Crystal Palace on Saturday, yoked together on the touchline like an odd-couple man-child double act in a Steinbeck novella. Watching the pair of them answer questions in front of the post-match cameras you half expect to hear things like: “I’m sorry mister my brother he gone strangled your rabbit he don’t mean no harm he just kinda clumsy whoah put the gun down mister.”
Perhaps just me, but something does seem to be working here. The last time Manchester United lost a game that Fellaini started was the 4-0 to Chelsea in October 2016. Of his last 45 first-team appearances only three have ended in defeat. One was as an 89th-minute sub in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg. Another was the FA Cup game at Chelsea where Ander Herrera was sent off. The last was against Real Madrid in the European Super Cup in August, when United actually “won” during Fellaini’s 35 minutes on the pitch.
Still, though, Fellaini divides opinion. Some see a blunt, stodgy, elbow-flailing obstacle. Others see only his bad points. But he is a high-class team player when the system works for him. This season he has seemed to do a little less to good effect, having fewer shots, http://www.authenticatlantabraves.com/Bob-Uecker-Jersey fewer fouls, fewer headers, holding his position and still able to reel out his most outstanding quality, that astonishing Velcro chest control, a footballer with a chest like a hand, able to rise like a huge, angular sea and simply clutch the ball out of the sky with a wriggle of the shoulders.

Early Friday morning and Pep Guardiola is receiving a second piece of terrible team news before Manchester City’s pivotal trip to Chelsea for Saturday’s late match.
Sergio Agüero, who has scored seven goals in eight appearances, has been injured in a car accident in Amsterdam and is ruled out of the game with a broken rib. Twenty-four hours earlier the left-back Benjamin Mendy, the £52m summer signing whose attacking flair has injected pace and potency into City, was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, making him unavailable until most likely April.
City have made a flying start to the campaign, winning eight of their nine games. They are Premier League leaders and top their Champions League group. Yet as Guardiola bills the fixture with Chelsea as key to City’s title aspirations, the Agüero-Mendy double whammy could not arrive at a worse time.
The manager’s hope is that his side can be inspired by the setback and help his quest to make City as powerful as Bayern Munich and Barcelona, Chris Heisey #14 Womens Jersey the two teams he previously managed.
“We want to become a big club. I’ve been at two amazing clubs in my life and you have to overcome this situation,” he says. “If we start to complain we’ll never reach the step we want to take. I prefer to play with men who are strong. I’d like to play with Sergio because we are strong with him. But he’s not there, no complaints. We’ll go there and play the way we’d have done it with Sergio, [Vincent] Kompany [also out], Mendy. We have to overcome these situations if you want to become a team that others consider big and say it doesn’t matter what happens.
“The big clubs do it. They overcome the difficult situations. We’ve broken two pieces [in Agüero and Mendy], it’s how do we react. It’s always difficult at Stamford Bridge, the last champions of the Premier League, http://www.officialnationalshop.com/authentic-20-daniel-murphy-jersey.html always complicated. If people are saying we can’t do it now, then we’ll never reach what we want in the next five or six years.”
Gabriel Jesus’s form has been as excellent as that of Agüero, the Brazilian registering five times in eight appearances. Given this and how Guardiola dropped the Argentinian for Jesus last season, it suggests the loss of Agüero may not be as crucial as that of Mendy.
Before the injury the Frenchman had featured in five of the eight victories and given City an extra dimension, his strong personality also bolstering team spirit. Darian Thompson Womens Jersey Guardiola believes Mendy is unique and that he will have to tinker with City’s approach at Stamford Bridge.
“We can’t replace him – in the way he plays, the way he goes up and down, you can’t,” says the head coach. “We have to do it in a different way. Nobody in the world has his energy, his mood on the pitch, in the locker room. But we have other qualities in other players and we have to find a balance.”
Guardiola is conscious how last year’s first meeting with Antonio Conte’s side proved season-defining. http://www.officialgiantsfootballs.com/Damon-Harrison-Jersey-Cheap Rewind to last December and he was left a deeply frustrated manager at the final whistle at the Etihad Stadium. The 46-year-old had witnessed City losing 3-1 and Agüero and Fernandinho being sent off in an angry end to the defeat.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Moussa Sissoko is still at Tottenham Hotspur only because of a lack of offers for him over the summer. The France midfielder, who became the club’s record signing the previous summer when he joined from Newcastle United for £30m, had pushed to leave and Tottenham were willing to let him go.
But there were no takers and Pochettino has since been impressed at how Sissoko has shown greater expression in his play and won the trust of his team-mates. The 28-year-old has been the most obvious beneficiary of Mousa Dembélé’s fitness issues and he has started in four of the club’s six Premier League games.
Pochettino has ruled Dembélé out of Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town and the manager says that they will “see what happens in the next few weeks” with him. Tottenham insist Dembélé’s injury is to his left ankle, rather than the top of his left foot, which has been the long-standing problem area.
Pochettino has used Sissoko, who has been called up by France for their World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus, Authentic Allen Iverson Youth Jersey on the right of a central midfield three in a new-look 3-5-2 formation in the past two games – the wins over West Ham in the league and Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League – and there have been encouraging signs from him, even if nobody wants to get ahead of themselves with the praise.
Sissoko endured a nightmarish first season at the club and he further blotted his copybook at the end of May when he told L’Equipe that he wanted clarity and honesty from Pochettino regarding whether he remained in his plans. At that point, it felt as though he was manoeuvring to leave.
“The player was the first [to be] interested to move or to leave because he wanted to play more in a season that has the World Cup at the end,” Pochettino said. http://www.authenticgrizzliestore.com/Jarell_Martin_Jersey “But I think maybe that possibility didn’t exist and I was more than happy for him to stay and to give him the possibility to play.
“He didn’t play too much last season or not as much as he wanted and, always, the player is looking to move, to try to feel better and try to be important, maybe at another club. And, always, the club is sensitive [to the players’ feelings] in every single situation. But, in the end, when we decided to keep him and he decided to stay with us, it’s about moving on and seeing if he deserves to have the possibility to play.”
Sissoko was undermined last year by his lack of a pre-season, having been in limbo as he sought to leave Newcastle; his move to Tottenham only went through on transfer deadline day. He arrived in “poor condition”, Authentic Dennis Rodman Womens Jersey according to Pochettino, and his stuttering start to life at the club was not helped by the three-match ban he received for elbowing Bournemouth’s Harry Arter last October. Pochettino also felt that his pricetag weighed heavily.
“It was another thing,” Pochettino said. “When we signed him, it was a record for the club and the expectations from the fans, the press, everyone, is massive. It is never easy to settle from the first moment and then it’s a struggle to play because there is a pressure of the transfer fee and it is so difficult. Even Zidane struggled at Real Madrid when he first moved from Juventus.
“Sometimes, you struggle to understand what the people expect from you and maybe that was a little bit longer [with Sissoko] than another player or what you maybe want or expect. But I think he understands better now what we want from him and he knows his team-mates better. http://www.authenticspurstore.com/George_Gervin_Jersey They trust more in him. It is true we are playing in a different way maybe to last season and he feels more comfortable in that situation.

Ronald Koeman delivered a scathing assessment of Everton’s Europa League draw against Apollon Limassol as he accused his team of being scared to play football and being “in a difficult situation”.
Everton were held to a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park after Héctor Yuste, who gifted Wayne Rooney a first-half goal, headed in an 88th-minute equaliser for a visiting team reduced to 10 men moments earlier.
A point at home to the lowest-ranked team in Group E, following a comprehensive 3-0 defeat away at Atalanta in the opening game, means Everton have made the worst ever start to a Europa League group campaign by an English team. And despite starting without pace and a recognised wide-man in a 4-4-2 formation, Koeman again blamed a lack of confidence for Everton’s latest ponderous performance.
“I cannot say they are not running or fighting but they are afraid of playing,” claimed the Everton manager. “It is in the head of the players. As a manager you can help the team and select the team but when the whistle goes you are not the one who plays the ball back. It is about giving the players options but we are scared to play forward. Sometimes there are not enough options for the forwards but, in that case, play the ball into the channels instead of the goalkeeper. We know the fans like us to go forward, not back, back, back. Then it is difficult to create chances.”
The Cypriot Cup holders took an early lead following a mistake by Ashley Williams and it was only after Koeman introduced £10m summer signing Nikola Vlasic that Everton showed improvement. Koeman added: “You saw the first 20 minutes – every ball was back instead of playing forwards. Authentic Derek Norris Womens Jersey Analyse the first goal. We gave away an easy ball and we didn’t defend the striker. The players are under the level they can bring. They have difficulties on the ball. You can take the positives out of individual performances like Vlasic but he is 19 and that is sometimes difficult to understand. He brought energy, he brought football. It is so difficult if you have so many players struggling. They are looking for the safe option. It is a difficult situation.”
Ostersund’s fairytale Europa League run took another remarkable step when they defeated Hertha Berlin at the Jamtkraft Arena to make it two group stage wins out of two.
The Swedish side, who were playing in their country’s fourth tier seven years ago, http://www.officialnationalstore.com/Gio_Gonzalez_Jersey had already beaten Galatasaray and Paok in the qualifying stages before winning at Zorya Luhansk on matchday one. A first-half penalty from their captain, Brwa Nouri, was enough to beat Hertha 1-0 although they had to defend heroically at times. It means the team managed by Englishman Graham Potter now stand a realistic chance of qualifying for the knock-out phase.
Zorya themselves earned an historic result, winning 1-0 against Athletic Bilbao in Spain. Ihor Kharatin’s 26th-minute header gave the Ukrainians a famous win and ensured that, after two games, Group J is being dominated by the teams that were supposed to be its minnows.
Red Star Belgrade secured the night’s third eyecatching single-goal victory by taking the points in Cologne. A stunning goal from Richmond Boakye, Andrew Shaw Authentic Jersey fired into the roof of the net from 25 yards, did it for the former European Cup winners although they rode their luck in a second half that saw the home team hit the woodwork three times. The Serbians now stand second in Group H behind Arsenal.
In Group L, Zenit St Petersburg overcame Real Sociedad 3-1 at home to open up a three-point lead at the top. Roberto Mancini’s team went two up through Emiliano Rigoni and Aleksandr Kokorin; Real replied through Diego Llorente but Kokorin’s second of the night sealed the result.
Nicklas Bendtner opened the scoring from the spot for Rosenborg in that group’s other game, http://www.officialcanadiensauthentic.com/Andrei_Markov_Jersey a 3-1 win over Vardar Skopje. Anders Konradsen and Vegar Eggen Hedenstad added two more, making Juan Felipe’s late strike for the Macedonians a virtual irrelevance.

The Premier League’s six richest clubs are facing stubborn resistance against their efforts to seek a greater share of income from the next multibillion‑pound round of TV deals.
In a plan believed by the 14 others to be supported by Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the Premier League is proposing to end the system by which money from international TV rights sales is shared equally by all 20.
Richard Scudamore, the Premier League’s chairman, is understood to have presented a proposal to a meeting of the other 14 clubs held at the Pullman hotel in London on Wednesday, for 35% of the next international TV money to be distributed according to “merit” – in other words, where clubs finish in the league.
That would be a major change to the arrangement which has operated by agreement since the original 1992 breakaway of the then First Division clubs to form the Premier League, #42 Arthur Brown Youth Jersey which was itself motivated by the bigger clubs no longer wanting to share TV money with the Football League’s other three divisions.
Income from international TV rights 25 years ago was negligible, so the clubs agreed to share that money equally, while only a third of British TV income is divided equally, the other two-thirds shared according to where clubs finish in the league and how many times they are shown on television.
Now, though, the Premier League’s popularity has made it prime content for burgeoning pay-TV operations around the world, delivering approximately £3bn to the 20 clubs in the 2016-19 round of deals. http://www.seahawksofficialsproshop.com/12th-Fan-Jersey That bonanza added to the £5.1bn from the competition between Sky and BT for British subscribers, plus other highlights deals, makes a total of £8.4bn in the current three-year cycle.
The distribution of TV money last season showed that the champions Chelsea received £151m in total while bottom-placed Sunderland were paid £93m, but the booming international income was shared equally, the 20 receiving £39m apiece. http://www.officialbruinsprostore.com/adam-oates-jersey-for-sale-c-29.html The so-called “big six” clubs argue that as the global revenue rises, as it is expected to again when the 2019-22 deals start to be negotiated later this year, they should receive a larger share because they are the ones which international viewers tune in to watch.
The other 14 clubs have been resisting these moves, in an effort to hold on to their equal share of the money. They are arguing that the sharing arrangement helps them to sign high-quality players and keep the league, Brad Marchand Youth Jersey as Scudamore describes it, “competitive and compelling” and therefore attractive on TV. Three of the smaller clubs are said to have been inclined at the meeting to agree the new 35% merit payment arrangement, but the agreement of 14 is needed to effect such a substantial change, and 11 remain firmly opposed.
A meeting of all clubs has been called for next Wednesday in London to finalise what the sharing arrangements will be.

Celtic have sampled so few successes in Champions League away matches that they are entitled to cherish this one. The perfect response to a mauling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain was supplied on a comfortable evening in Brussels.
This marked Celtic’s second win in 28 attempts on the road in the competition. It also marks the first time in the Champions League they have kept a clean sheet away from home. Wider context is positive for a team who enjoy such dominance in Scotland that ability is often underplayed. On this evidence Celtic are vastly superior to Anderlecht in all departments. Another away trip, to Bayern Munich next month, suddenly carries heavy significance.
“It was an outstanding performance and result,” said the Hoops manager, Brendan Rodgers. “Everyone had built the game up before; it was a real pressure game for us. For a Scottish team to come away, win 3-0 and keep a clean sheet at this level, is a big achievement.”
Anderlecht’s dismal opening to the season has left them sitting seventh in their top flight and without a permanent manager. Unsurprisingly, Brian Leetch Youth Jersey Rodgers stressed before kick-off that they remained formidable as Celtic sought to kickstart their season away from the domestic scene. The deployment of such an attacking XI – Scott Sinclair, Tom Rogic and Patrick Roberts all started in support of Leigh Griffiths – suggested the manager quietly sensed Anderlecht’s vulnerability.
After a turgid opening spell, it took 31 minutes for either goalkeeper to be called into action, Anderlecht’s Frank Boeckx saving a long-range drive from Olivier Ntcham comfortably.
Celtic alleviated the tedium with a fine move that deserved its reward of the opening goal. http://www.authenticrangersstore.com/chris-kreider-jersey_c-427.html Ntcham played a terrific pass to the marauding Kieran Tierney. The left-back’s low cross found Griffiths at the back post, and the striker took a single touch to convert.
Anderlecht could have restored parity within a minute, Craig Gordon instead holding an attempt from Sofiane Hanni. The captain really should have done better having permitted himself space and time. The home side duly opened the second period with a brief vigour not witnessed in the first. A dipping, swerving shot from Hanni caused Gordon problems before Celtic produced a response sufficient to settle any nerves.
Dreadful defending played a key part in that goal, Olivier Deschacht miscontrolling a pass from Leander Dendoncker to the point where Roberts could pinch possession. Alexander Steen Youth Jersey The Manchester City loanee lashed a shot that bounded past Boeckx via a deflection off Serigne Mbodji. There was little doubt as to where the Anderlecht blame lay; Deschacht was replaced minutes later.
Anderlecht huffed and puffed in search of salvation that never really looked like arriving. The perfect night for Rodgers was completed by Sinclair, who clipped the ball home in stoppage time. “I believe we can be better than we were tonight,” the manager added.
Maybe even Bayern will take note. http://www.authenticbluesstore.com/brett-hull-jersey_c-435.html Celtic’s travel sickness has been cured.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in his 150th European club match as Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund for the first time in Germany. His goals wrapped up a 3-1 win after Gareth Bale had put them ahead with a superb volley in the 18th minute.
Ronaldo doubled Real’s lead before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled a goal back in the 54th minute but the Portuguese international confirmed the holders’ victory when he fired past Dortmund’s keeper Roman Buerki in the 79th minute.
It also ensured there would be no repeat of last season’s draw, when Dortmund had come from 2-0 down, and Real now have maximum points from two matches in Group H and are neck-and-neck with Tottenham, who also gained their second win by beating Apoel Nicosia 3-0 in Cyprus.
Real were lucky not to concede a penalty when Sergio Ramos cleared a Maximilian Philipp effort off Authentic Andrej Sustr Youth Jersey the line with his hand before Bale gave them the lead from Daniel Carvajal’s cross .
Dortmund had a chance to equalise just after the break but Raphaël Varane cleared Andriy Yarmolenko’s cross on the goalline before Aubameyang could take advantage.
It was Real, however, who scored again when Bale was given too much space to cut in and find Ronaldo in the penalty area. http://www.officialtampabaylightning.com/Adidas-Anton-Stralman-Jersey Aubameyang stabbed in Gonzalo Castro’s cross to keep the game tight, until Ronaldo broke clear with his 13th goal in his last seven Champions League games.
Afterwards the Real coach, Zinedine Zidane, said: “We had chances. We had a spectacular game, a brilliant game. I am delighted for Ronaldo and Bale. The side worked hard. The midfield worked very hard. I am extremely happy because they played a tremendous game.”
While Liverpool were drawing against Spartak Moscow, Aqib Talib Womens Jersey Sevilla moved clear at the top of Group E with a 3-0 win over Maribor at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán with their striker Wissam Ben Yedder becoming the first player in the club’s history to score a hat-trick in a European game.
The Frenchman nudged in from close range in the 26th minute to give Eduardo Berizzo’s side the lead after a strong run from the Argentinian Joaquin Correa, who beat four players before cutting the ball back to his team-mate.
Ben Yedder then latched on to a simple through ball from Franco Vázquez after some neat passing in midfield to tuck the ball under Maribor’s goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic and in off the far post in the 37th. http://www.denverbroncosauthorizedstore.com/bennie-fowler-jersey-elite He completed his hat-trick with seven minutes remaining from the penalty spot after a foul on Sébastien Corchia.

For Sergio Agüero, it was a bittersweet evening. The most important detail is that his team won and have put themselves in a position of strength in their qualifying group. Yet this was also a night when Agüero missed the opportunity to sugarcoat a slightly dishevelled performance with the goal that would have established him as Manchester City’s joint all-time record scorer.
The damage is only superficial and Agüero’s time to equal Eric Brook’s 177‑goal target, a record that has stood since 1939, will inevitably come, perhaps even against Chelsea on Saturday. Yet City will have to hope that his inability to finish off a 71st-minute penalty is not a sign of the anxiety that sometimes grips a player when they are on the cusp of these personal milestones.
As brilliant as he is, Agüero’s record from the penalty spot jars with the rest of his scoring achievements. This one was saved by Andriy Pyatov and City will just be glad that Shakhtar Donetsk, the better side in the opening half, ran out of puff after that point, with an assortment of visiting players needing treatment for cramp.
Instead, the game was settled by the late goal from Raheem Sterling, a substitute, to add to the latest piece of brilliance in Kevin De Bruyne’s portfolio. Adidas Dante Fabbro Youth Jersey Agüero looked forlorn when he was substituted late on, with his penalty rather uncharitably being replayed on the giant screen, but it ended up being a splendid result for City.
Donetsk were a fine team and ought to have been awarded a penalty for John Stones’s handball before Sterling soothed the crowd’s nerves, just as the fourth official was about to hold up the electronic board announcing four minutes of stoppage time.
As is his way, Sterling had already missed an even more glaring chance and, overall, City created enough opportunities in the second half to feel like they warranted the victory, their seventh on the bounce in all competitions. http://www.authenticnashvillepredators.com/authentic-colin-wilson-jersey Yet it was a difficult night at times and Guardiola must have been startled by the way City’s opponents controlled the opening 45 minutes. It is not often that a team visit this stadium and attempt to outpass the home team but Donetsk’s Brazilian contingent, with four of their front five originating from South America, elegantly set about the first half.
Guardiola has never been very good at hiding his displeasure and the City manager looked slightly nonplussed during those moments, running his fingers down his face as if bewildered by what he was seeing.
That does not mean City were playing badly, more that their opponents were operating at a level to cause anxiety. Taison, Fred, Bernard and Marlos all showed the familiar Brazilian traits of quick, incisive, soft-touch football. Ismaily, the team’s left-back, was another who caught the eye. Authentic Corey Perry Youth Jersey Guardiola described the Ukrainian champions afterwards as a “machine” and an “amazing team” and there was a measure of relief to his post‑match comments.
“I said to the players: ‘You have to be proud because you have beaten one of the best teams at the way they play,’” the City manager said.
The game swung in City’s favour three minutes after the restart and here was another demonstration of De Bruyne’s brilliance, even on a night when the Belgian did not always exert his usual influence. Marlos was the Donetsk player who put his team in trouble with a loose pass. http://www.officialsanaheimducks.com/Adidas-Dustin-Tokarski-Jersey De Bruyne intercepted the ball and David Silva carried the possession on before squaring the ball back to his team‑mate. De Bruyne was just over 20 yards out, in a central position, and whipped a curling, powerfully struck shot into the top right-hand corner of Pyatov’s goal.

To Harry Kane it is a numbers game and, like every football fan in Europe, the Tottenham Hotspur striker is in awe of those posted by two players in particular. You know who they are. There was a time when a goalscorer would be feted for getting 20 in a league season; for reaching a ratio of one in every two matches. That was in the era before Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Big Two have redefined the concept of productivity. What they have done and are doing is, quite simply,
freakish. Messi, for example, has scored 96 goals in 116 Champions League games; Ronaldo 107 in 141. And what about their records in La Liga? Since Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009, he has scored 285 goals in 267 matches. In the corresponding period, Messi has 304 goals in 279 games for Barcelona.
Kane has made no secret of his desire to be the best in the world, to win the Ballon d’Or, and an exciting thing has started to happen. His numbers have entered the same stratosphere as those of Messi and Ronaldo. He has a long way to go but, in the statistics that feature across social media, Kane is beginning to draw comparisons. He knows it because, as he admits, he cannot avoid things on Twitter. And it is driving him; fuelling the hunger still further.
Since Kane broke through at Tottenham in 2014-15, he has scored 79 league goals in 108 matches, Authentic Billy Hamilton Youth Jersey picking up two Golden Boot awards in the process. Across those same three league seasons, Messi has 115 in 111; Ronaldo 108 in 102. Kane has a better shots-to-goals ratio than Ronaldo during the period and it is only slightly inferior to that of Messi.
Narrow the parameters to the calendar year of 2017 and Kane looks even better. The 24-year-old has 25 league goals in 23 games to Messi’s 34 in 27 and Ronaldo’s 15 in 20. Kane has a better shots-to-goals ratio than both of them. As an aside, when Ronaldo was a United player, from the age of 18 to 24, he scored 84 league goals in 196 matches. Kane’s career record in the Premier League shows 82 from 119.
“With social media these days, it’s difficult to stay away from the stats,” Kane said. “Everyone is tweeting this thing or that thing and you see it. http://www.authenticcincinnatireds.com/Barry-Larkin-Jersey I want to be one of the best players in the world, so when people put stuff up and I see I am close to those players [Messi and Ronaldo] it is a great incentive to get even closer and go to the next step. I use it, yes. Staying consistent at the top level is what it’s all about.”
Kane is in the throes of his second Champions League campaign and he will lead the line against Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus on Tuesday night. Mauricio Pochettino will be without the suspended Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli, while Mousa Dembele (foot) and Christian Eriksen (illness) have not travelled. Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela are also out.
Pochettino, though, Authentic Brandon Moss Youth Jersey says that his squad has the depth to cope and he knows how vital it will be to follow the 3-1 home victory against Borussia Dortmund from the opening round of Group H ties with another three points. Kane scored twice in that game and it brought his overall Champions League tally to four in four appearances – not bad for his start to life at this level.
Kane is fast achieving superstar status, and one marker of it is how much he is talked about. After he had scored twice in the 3-2 win at West Ham United on Saturday, Mark Noble described him as being “easily worth £100m-plus”.
The West Ham captain added: “If he keeps on playing like he is, http://www.authentickansascityroyals.com/Bo-Jackson-Jersey Tottenham are going to have to be strong to keep him.”

Fifa is set to lift its controversial ban on the home nations teams wearing poppies on their shirts or armbands in time for England’s proposed friendly against Germany the evening before Armistice Day.
There was widespread annoyance last year when the world game’s governing body fined the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish football associations after all defied the ban and players wore poppy-printed armbands during World Cup qualifying matches.
However, a new proposal will allow poppies to be worn, providing the opposing team and the organising body concerned give their approval before the match. It is understood the German football association has informed senior FA executives that it would be supportive of England players displaying poppies when the sides are expected to play at Wembley on 10 November. As it would be a friendly match, Fifa has ultimate jurisdiction and is yet to ratify the new rule but is expected to do so before the game.
Fifa’s new proposal concerning “political” symbols on shirts amounts to a relaxation over the rules on poppies, Authentic Jordan Adams Womens Jersey often displayed to commemorate military personnel who have died in the line of duty. The proposal states that “Whilst ‘religious’ and ‘personal’ are relatively easily defined, ‘political’ is less clear”.
A ban remains on slogans or images related to individual people or groups, political parties or governing bodies. It is noted that “when commemorating a significant national or international event, the sensibilities of the opposing team [including their supporters] and the general public should be carefully considered”.
A notice was also sent by Fifa to all national governing bodies last week reminding them of law four in the Laws of the Game. http://www.officialgrizzliestore.com/authentic-1-jarell-martin-jersey.html It states that on shirts “The following are normally permitted: player name, number, team crest/logo, initiatives [pro football etc]”.
It is understood that a poppy marking Armistice Day is considered a commemoration of a significant national event.
The English and Scottish FAs appealed against fines totalling £51,000 for displaying poppies when the sides faced each other in a World Cup qualifying match on Armistice Day last year.
The Guardian understands those fines have not yet been paid and will be wiped if the proposed change to the rule is approved by the Fifa and the International Football Association Board, the independent guardian of the Laws of the Game.
Many British people choose to wear the poppy symbol on the anniversary of the end of the first world war and the days leading up to the anniversary. But until now Fifa had considered it to be an outward display of politicism.
In 2011, Fifa eventually backed down after threatening to ban the England team from wearing poppies in a friendly against Spain, allowing them to display the symbol on black armbands. Brad Wing Youth Jersey That came after Prince William, the president of the FA, and the then-prime minister, David Cameron, wrote to Fifa demanding the ban be lifted.
However, last year Fifa cracked down once again. Fatma Samoura, Fifa’s new secretary general, said: “Britain is not the only country that has been suffering from the result of war.”
Theresa May waded into the row last year, calling the ban “utterly outrageous”. During a session of prime minister’s question time, she said: “Our football players want to recognise and respect those who have given their lives for our safety and security. http://www.officialgiantsfootballs.com/Brandon-Marshall-Jersey-Cheap I think it is absolutely right that they should be able to do so. She added that there was a “clear message” from the House of Commons that “we want our players to be able to wear those poppies”.
The FA declined to comment until the decision is formally ratified by Fifa.

It is probably not a date many people have inked into their pocket diary. But last week brought the 10th anniversary of the last time Michael Owen scored for England, the Chester goal ace bagging twice in a 3-0 trouncing of Russia as Steve McClaren’s golden lions sent a war cry across the bows of Euro 2008 qualification Group E, and a quiver of fear through the pigeon-chest of continental Europe itself.
Except of course it didn’t quite work out like that. England were good against Russia at the FA’s excitingly matt-grey new Wembley, an arena fit to stage the 2018 World Cup final and definitely not only loads of tinny pop concerts and musicals. Owen scored his 39th and 40th England goals, bringing closer the inevitable reeling in of Bobby Charlton’s England record, probably in a World Cup final or something.
And for one more Wembley evening there was still a feeling around this England team of a legacy to be discharged, a talent bazooka that just needed to be pointed in the right direction, Steven Gerrard’s frantically pumping legs directed the right way long enough to effect some defining victory.
Or perhaps not. Owen played four more times and didn’t score another goal. England went on to beat a poor Estonia, lose to Russia away, Charcandrick West Womens Jersey then lose to Croatia at Wembley on one of those wild, era-defining evenings. And in retrospect that 3-0 Wembley win turned out to be a final glimpse of something. England’s last really decent group of players were never quite golden again.
Fast forward 10 years and it has become a reflex response to scoff at the idea England were potential world beaters. But the fact is they were. Given a fair wind, even a slightly different manager, they really could and should have done much better.
At which point the wind chimes tinkle, the screen begins to dissolve and we’re in an alternative timeline: a better world, a world where one small detail might still change everything. http://www.chiefsofficialsauthentic.com/CHIEFS-CAIRO-SANTOS-JERSEY I put it to you that had Alex Ferguson left Manchester United in 2002, as planned, and taken over as England manager there is a pretty good chance England would have won the 2006 World Cup.
This isn’t jingoism or Premier League flat-earth syndrome. It’s the truth. Italy’s world champions were well organised, but not necessarily much better. Two World Cups later an equivalent, but far more tactically astute German generation won in Brazil. Just imagine the England team of 2006 led by Ferguson, the best Premier League manager available, or at least by a manager without an unshakeable 4-4-2 fetish or a tendency to spend training sessions going for long mumbling walks with his celebrity captain.
I mentioned this idea of an alternative England timeline on Twitter this week and drew a response that, far from the expected coyote chorus of scorn, Authentic Babe Ruth Youth Jersey was warm and wistful and quietly tolerant. Probably this is because in so-called “reality” the world has turned bad and will soon come to an end in a mushroom cloud of conjoined despotic idiocy. So a little escapism is appealing. But the fact remains there was a turning point back then, a moment where one step the other way might still have made all the difference.
In this timeline Ferguson sticks with his decision to leave Old Trafford. He’s persuaded to take the England job from the year-long caretaker Peter Taylor. He leads the team to Japan and South Korea and starts the messy business of stiffening its spine, snapping down on any gathering debaucheries. After defeat to Greece in the final of Euro 2004, blamed by Ferguson in an angry rant to the TV cameras on the quality of the ball-boys, England’s manager returns from a four-match ban to lead an imperious World Cup qualification.
Gerrard’s switch to right-back before the tournament is key. And from the group stage England play with the freedom of Ferguson’s best United teams. http://www.authenticyankeeshop.com/authentic-51-bernie-williams-jersey.html A Paul Scholes-Owen Hargreaves midfield offers balance, with David Beckham and a super-fit Kieron Dyer rampant on the wings. A de-Mourinho’d Joe Cole is outstanding as a deep playmaker behind the eventual golden boot winner, Jermain Defoe. The Newcastle tearaway Wayne Rooney, so promising at Everton, is unfit and left out of the squad.

One of Mark Sampson’s former rivals for the England manager’s job has said rumours of his inappropriate relationships with female players at Bristol Academy were “common knowledge” in the women’s game before he was appointed.
Keith Boanas, now Watford Ladies coach, said he “cannot believe” those who recruited Sampson in December 2013 had not heard concerns about the 34-year-old’s conduct at Bristol where he was first a development coach and later managed the first team. Pressure is mounting on the Football Association’s chief executive, Martin Glenn, technical director, Dan Ashworth, and other senior figures at the governing body to explain how Sampson remained in such a high-profile role for almost four years. The FA has also been heavily criticised for its handling of allegations made by the England striker Eni Aluko about bullying and racism, first revealed in the Guardian, during Sampson’s reign.
The Welshman’s contract was terminated this week after Glenn apparently became aware of the “full detail” of safeguarding allegations made against Sampson in March 2014. Glenn arrived as the FA chief executive in May 2015 and said this week he became aware of the report in October of that year and saw the full version only last week.
But Boanas, who was overlooked for the England job, said the claims were in effect an open secret. “They were common knowledge,” he told the Guardian. “It reverberated around the game and I was told of specific things on numerous occasions. If they weren’t substantiated rumours, Brian Propp Youth Jersey then they may have gone: ‘OK we’re going to go with you’ but to come out now and say: ‘It’s only just come to light’ is hard to believe. I’m married to a player I coached but ours is a serious relationship and we’ve always kept our private life away from football.”
Boanas, who is married to the former England goalkeeper Pauline Cope-Boanas, said the FA abandoned the criteria it stated were necessary for the job of manager in order to appoint Sampson. “They said the candidate must have a professional licence and international experience but Mark had neither.”
Mo Marley, the head coach of England women’s Under-19s and Marieanne Spacey, http://www.officialflyersteamonline.com/Brayden_Schenn_Jersey England women’s player and coach developer, have emerged as leading contenders to replace Sampson as first team manager. Boanas believes the FA will deliberately seek out a woman for the job and that male coaches may all be tarred with the same brush in future.
“I certainly think with the situation with Mark they’ll go more towards a female coach because that’s considered safe,” said Boanas, “but that’s almost sexist in another way to assume that just because it’s a female coach that the same thing can’t happen.”
Ashworth sat on the four-strong panel that recruited Sampson along with the then technical director, Sir Trevor Brooking, Club England’s managing director, Adrian Bevington, and Kelly Simmons, then national game and women’s football director. Ashworth is the most senior current employee who worked for the FA through the entire relevant period. Jose Juan Barea Womens Jersey He will be called on by parliament’s culture, media and sport select committee to explain why the FA continued to employ Sampson after safeguarding concerns were first raised.
The details of the full report remained confidential after it was decided Sampson did not pose a safeguarding risk and was ordered to undergo an education course.
Glenn said it was only because external figures approached the governing body in the wake of the http://www.mavericksteamonline.com/Jose_Barea_Jersey Aluko furore and urged him to look at the full detail of the Bristol allegations that he requested the full version of the 2015 report.

Martin Glenn, the Football Association’s heavily criticised chief executive, faces further embarrassment after admitting the organisation deliberately chose a black woman to investigate the Mark Sampson race allegations – without apparently realising the FA’s lawyers had already sent a letter to the Guardian warning such a claim was “plainly false”.
Glenn, one of the executives most under scrutiny after Sampson’s sudden sacking on Wednesday, promised he would offer a personal apology to Eni Aluko and Drew Spence if the controversial and reopened independent inquiry found that the now‑deposed England women’s manager had made racial comments to the two players.
However, Glenn also went on to say he had made it a condition to have a woman who is not white in charge of the inquiry, without appearing to realise that the FA’s solicitors, Farrer & Co, had written to the Guardian on 25 August to say that any suggestion that it had deliberately chosen a black woman would be inaccurate and construed as a personal attack. “That suggestion is plainly false and categorically rejected,” it read.
In an even more strongly worded letter, Huston Street Authentic Jersey the same legal firm followed that up on Thursday by saying that the colour of Katharine Newton’s skin had been “utterly irrelevant” in the selection process and only an issue for those who did not understand, or wished to undermine, the investigation.
Yet the FA’s inability to get its stories straight resurfaced when Glenn agreed to face the Guardian’s questions about the criticisms of the initial internal review – carried out by the FA’s technical director, Dan Ashworth, and the human resources director, Rachel Brace – in the face of criticism from the Professional Footballers’ Association that it was “not a genuine search for the truth” and “a sham which was not designed to establish the truth but intended to protect Mark Sampson”.
Glenn defended his colleagues http://www.officialangelsproshop.com/Garrett_Richards_JerseyJohn Riggins Authentic Jersey I feel good about doing that. You can pick holes but I’m not going to get into a ‘he said, she said’ about why some things were raised. You can deal only with complaints that get raised, not total hearsay. It was a full investigation.”
Glenn and his top-level colleagues, in particular Ashworth and the chairman, Greg Clarke, are under scrutiny after Sampson’s dismissal and being forced to admit they had never fully looked into the safeguarding investigation surrounding a complaint about his behaviour and relationship with players at Bristol Academy, his previous job.
With the FA still under pressure to resolve the escalating story involving Aluko and Spence, Newton’s investigation has led to criticism from, among others, Kick It Out, the PFA and Women in Football. Glenn, http://www.footballredskinsprostore.com/Darrell_Green_Jersey_Cheap however, appeared to indicate that Spence was at fault for not coming forward earlier. “If someone has had something said to them, the thing you would expect them to do is raise a complaint. The specifics of that complaint could then be dealt with. If you worked your whole life on hearsay, you’d never be able to run a classroom let alone the Football Association.”
