Please Read Before Posting / Metz lost 11 of their first 12
« on: January 31, 2018, 12:59:50 AM »
2017 was a difficult year for Metz. They just about managed to avoid relegation last season, despite having the worst defence in Ligue 1, and their dealings in the summer transfer window suggested they would be in another dogfight this year. The club has a history of developing players – such as Miralem Pjanic, Sadio Mané and Robert Pires – and they unearthed another gem in Ismaïla Sarr last season. The young Senegalese attacker moved to Rennes for €17m in the summer but Metz hardly re-invested that money, with Philipp Wollscheid’s arrival from Stoke City for €2.5m their biggest signing of the window. Crucially, they failed to retain the services Authentic Ron Parker Jersey of Cheick Diabaté, who had scored eight league goals in 14 games last season while on loan from Turkish club Osmanlıspor.

There were a few other arrivals in the summer – including Nolan Roux, Emmanuel Rivière, Cafú and Julian Palmieri – but none of them have ever excelled in Ligue 1. The talented but inexperienced centre-back Moussa Niakhaté joined from Valenciennes but, in addition to the losses of Diabaté and Sarr, veteran midfielders Georges Mandjeck and Cheick Doukouré also left for greener pastures, leaving the club’s well-liked manager, Philippe Hinschberger, to deal with a massive churn of players.
It was no surprise that Hinschberger did not last long, although the extent of his team’s slump was unprecedented. By the time Hinschberger was sacked in late October, Metz had lost nine of their first 10 games in the league, leaving them six points from safety. The club replaced Hinschberger with Frédéric Hantz, who is best known for achieving successive promotions with Bastia. In his most recent job, at Montpellier, he had endeavoured to play attacking football but showed little regard for his defence, a decision that led to him being sacked last January.
If Metz were hoping for a new-manager bounce, they had to wait some time. It took Hantz nearly two months to earn his first win, a 3-1 victory at his former club, Montpellier, in mid-December, but that win has provoked the team into finding some form. They have earned 13 points in their last six matches – a total only beaten by Paris Saint-Germain. They are still last in the league – six points from the relegation play-off spot – but their 2-1 win over Nice on Saturday served as a brilliant summary of how Hantz – and a few key signings – have given them a fighting chance at a third successive season in Ligue 1.
The red card shown to Nice midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou in Preston Tucker Jersey the first half certainly helped their cause, but Metz were more than good value for the win even when both sides were at full strength. Hantz took full advantage of his players’ versatility, creating a solid platform in midfield while still maintaining a high degree of pressure on Nice’s inexperienced back-line.
With Niakhaté capable of playing both as a full-back and as a centre-back, Julian Palmieri was able to push further up the pitch, providing natural width and allowing the energetic Roux (who scored both goals) to harry the back four in concert with January signing Danjiel Milicevic. The http://www.seahawksshopfooball.com/Ethan_Pocic_Jersey little midfielder, who is on loan from Gent, has added a dash of much-needed creativity in the centre of the park while also displaying the same level of freneticism as Renaud Cohade, who can now play slightly deeper. Behind those two, defensive midfielder Georges Mandjeck has returned, again on loan, from a difficult spell in the Czech Republic and added a robust and reliable presence in front of the defence.
Metz were at their most impressive on the right flank, where Florent Mollet – who was rarely http://www.officialauthentic49erproshop.com/womens_deion_sanders_jersey able to get a game behind the excellent Mathieu Dossevi earlier in the campaign – has blossomed under Hantz, showing a good eye for goal and a leather-lunged ability to track back. This has allowed right-back Jonathan Rivierez to play more narrowly and maintain the back-line’s shape, no small advantage for a team who had regularly been poor at the back. They way Hantz has cannily moulded this squad into a feisty unit with more than a dash of creativity is something to behold. Metz may still be relegated but, under Hantz, it will not be without a fight.
Lyon were coming off wins against Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco but Gustavo Poyet’s rejuvenated Bordeaux team were too much for them on Sunday. Previously weak and porous, Bordeaux were steadfast and aggressive in their 3-1 win. Nicolas de Préville, relieved of an ill-fitting lone striker role, opened Ibraheim Campbell Authentic Jersey the scoring for the second game running before a brace of penalties gave Bordeaux an unassailable lead. Whether or not Poyet can cajole such displays in the long term remains to be seen but this intense performance and crucial victory was impressive. wholesale nfl jerseys free shipping cheap nfl jerseys paypal cheap jerseys usa wholesale nba jerseys cheap basketball jerseys

Please Read Before Posting / David Beckham wants to bring
« on: January 30, 2018, 07:46:40 PM »
An emotional David Beckham said Miami had made his “dream come true” after finally becoming a Major League Soccer team owner. The Miami MLS team plans to enter the US top-flight as its 25th team in two years.

The new club, which is yet to be named, was rubber-stamped by MLS 1,454 days after the former England captain arrived in Miami pledging to bring a professional team to the city. Now, with most of the hurdles cleared, MLS commissioner Don Garber has awarded Miami a franchise that will bring professional football back to the city for the first time since 2001.

Speaking to the UK media following the event, Beckham emphasized his http://www.officialcoltsfootballshop.com/Nike-Johnathan-Hankins-Jersey.html Miami team will seek to bring in top stars, but also http://www.vegasgoldenknightsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Reid-Duke-Jersey rely on an academy model to develop homegrown talent.
The former England captain expressed Greg Holland Jersey a desire to replicate the success of the ‘Class of ‘92’ – the group of young players who emerged to forge over a decade of success at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson’s guidance.
“We want to reach for the stars, we want the best players in, but more importantly for us we want to create a state of the art academy where we have a hotbed of talent in this part of America,” he said. “If we get that right, that will make us and the people of Miami even more http://www.minnesotawildofficialonline.com/Adidas-Ryan-Suter-Jersey proud to support their team, because they’re seeing young kids, their sons, coming into this team and have the chance to play professional football.”
Monday’s announcement brings to a close a long saga during which failed stadium initiatives, local political maneuvering and a search for additional investment threatened to derail the project. A major breakthrough came last June, when the investment group secured the final three-acre plot of land necessary to build the new arena in the city’s Overtown district, describing it Womens Shawn Thornton Jersey last year as “the last chance to get a stadium or soccer team.”
The project remained on the verge of collapse until local construction magnates the Mas brothers, Jorge and José, joined the ownership group in December shortly after losing out on the bidding to buy the Miami Marlins baseball team.
“[The struggle to found the club] speaks to our desire to have an MLS team in Miami,” said Commissioner Garber. “This is a very important city in our country. It’s very culturally diverse, it’s got enormous energy and a Hispanic and Latino culture that really is one of the key demographic drivers in our country, which as you all know, is more important now than at any other time, in terms of what Rico Gathers Jersey that means politically.”
Beckham’s group has long http://www.seahawksofficialfootballonline.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_MALIK_MCDOWELL_JERSEY.html envisioned a European-style “walk to the match” in the historically African American neighbourhood, where there is still ardent opposition and an ongoing legal appeal. It’s a couple of miles away from the initially-proposed waterfront location next door to Kevin Labanc Youth jersey the NBA’s Miami Heat, but a world away in terms of the glamour originally sought by Beckham in 2014.
Beckham added: “I’m English, so I’m coming into this wanting to learn, but I want to be a good neighbour. I don’t want to have any problems and obviously we want to make people happy.”

Please Read Before Posting / Newcastle’s legions are running out of
« on: January 29, 2018, 11:33:29 PM »
It was on 17 minutes that the Newcastle United supporters first made their feelings clear. “You fat cockney bastard, get out of our club,” came the chant from one corner of The Shed and it did not require Sherlock Holmes to figure out to whom their ire was directed. Mike Ashley was not in attendance but he has remained a notable figure in proceedings, on and off the pitch.

First there was the chant, which could be heard again on three occasions during the second half, and then the makeup of those responsible for it. Newcastle fans regularly travel in good numbers but here large chunks of blue and white seats could be seen in a part of the stand that one would have expected before kick‑off to be dominated by black and white.
A lunchtime kick‑off and live television coverage were almost certainly causes for the absences but, if a glance at social media was anything to go by, a strong sense of apathy also appeared to play a part. As some said, why bother with an early, long train http://www.footballcardinalsofficial.com/Authentic-Tyvon-Branch-Jersey journey down south when you know your team are going to get beaten and therefore be knocked out at the fourth-round stage of the FA Cup for a fifth successive year? Worse still, when you Ryan Garbutt Jersey also know that the man at the very top barely cares? That is the impression Ashley continues to give and, as such, it is hard to blame Newcastle’s fervent followers if they are beginning to lose heart, too.
What was so evident here is just how far away Newcastle are from competing at the highest level. They started well, pushing Chelsea back with a level of aggression and intent that was absent when Daniel Murphy Authentic Jersey they faced Manchester City eight days ago. Jonjo Shelvey was having one of those games that makes the idea of the 25-year-old earning an England recall seem plausible – working hard http://www.steelersofficialsstore.com/Jj_Wilcox_Jersey_Cheap and spraying passes with ambition and precision. Matt Ritchie was also a threat in an advanced left-sided role and, had he and Dwight Gayle pulled off a quick one‑two, the visitors could well have taken the lead. But they failed to do so and 10 minutes later it was Chelsea who struck through Michy Batshuayi after a classy build-up involving Pedro, Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso.
It was the type of play – a wonderfully precise long pass, two neat ones in tight areas – that for all the industry and encouraging flashes Newcastle showed early on here they never appeared capable of pulling off, which is hardly a surprise given this largely remains a Championship group of players. Of those who started only Javier Manquillo arrived at the club since promotion and even when two more summer acquisitions came off the bench in the shape of Jacob Murphy and Joselu the quality gap remained stark, in defence as well as attack. Little wonder those in the away end were so sustained in their anger at the owner.
Any good work Ashley may have done at Newcastle since taking over a decade ago is severely undermined by his starving of the club’s on-pitch resources. Newcastle’s potential is rich yet they are relative paupers compared with those they regularly compete with and it is damning that the £17m spent on Michael Owen almost 13 years ago remains the record acquisition made at St James’ Park.
Ashley is prepared to sell but a deal DeAndre Jordan Youth jersey looks further than ever from being done, certainly with Amanda Staveley and her company PCP Capital Partners if the recent claims and counter-claims that have been exchanged between the parties are anything to go by. So the status quo remains and the worry for the fans is that Rafael Benítez will soon decide he has had enough. The manager spoke diplomatically here about signing players before the close of the transfer window but his frustration and pessimism was unmistakable. He appears to have given up hope; increasingly he is not the only one.

Please Read Before Posting / Jürgen Klopp expects positive
« on: January 29, 2018, 06:46:48 PM »
Jürgen Klopp said the pressure is on Liverpool following their FA Cup exit and the reaction to defeat by West Bromwich Albion will determine their fortunes in the Champions League.

Klopp’s hopes of winning the first trophy of his Liverpool reign rest on the Champions League this season after his team were deservedly beaten by Alan Pardew’s side on Saturday. The 3-2 home defeat condemned Liverpool to a third consecutive fourth‑round exit under their manager and was a second successive loss against a team in the bottom two of the Premier League following the reverse at Swansea City last Monday.

VAR intruded Albion’s fine performance at Anfield where the referee, Craig Pawson, used the system for three correct first-half decisions but also strayed into farce with several unnecessary reviews. It could not camouflage another poor defensive display from Liverpool. Their manager admits the success of this campaign, whether through winning the Champions League or finishing in the top four of the Premier League, depends on an immediate response.
Klopp, who takes his team to Huddersfield Town , said: “It’s not difficult to think about it [recovering for the Champions League]; it’s more difficult to find the right answer. We have to show in the next game what we really want. It’s not the first game we’ve lost and it’s all about reactions. We have to do better. We’ve played two games in a row in which we didn’t perform like we can. Look at both Jermon Bushrod Authentic Jersey games and you have to say that was not good enough, simple as that. What we achieve, we will see in the next few games
“There are a lot of games to play, a lot of big challenges waiting for us and we have to be ready. After each defeat, if you learn from it, then it makes a little bit of sense. If you don’t learn from it, then it makes absolutely no sense.Of course the pressure increases in http://www.newyorkgiants.us.com/WOMENS-BRAD-WING-JERSEY.html a situation like this, the pressure we make on ourselves, but that’s how it is.”
The defeat was Liverpool’s first at Anfield since 23 April 2017 and arrived less than two weeks after they inflicted a first Premier League loss of the season on Manchester City. Klopp, whose team face Porto in the Champions League last 16 http://www.officialpiratesproshop.com/Dave_Parker_Jersey next month, denied complacency had crept into his players having beaten the league leaders.
“It was only a few days ago we were here talking about Man City, one of the best football games we were a part of. That’s how it is. Nothing in training gave me a sign that the boys misjudged the success or result against Man City, or the performance. We are really serious people and I think we took it in the right way. But then we had two games and we have to show that we can do better. It’s not allowed to concede goals like we conceded.”
Liverpool benefited from two VAR decisions against Albion – with Craig Dawson having a goal disallowed for a marginal offside and Mohamed Salah winning a penalty after being pulled by Jake Livermore. Klopp, unsurprisingly, was not Jordan Staal Youth jersey as bewildered as the Albion manager, Alan http://www.footballgiantsofficial.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_ELI_APPLE_JERSEY.html Pardew, about the system. “It’s the start of it,” he said. “It’s normal that it’s a little bit rusty but I think it will be OK.” But he was annoyed that VAR was not used to penalise the Albion substitute Ahmed Hegazi for a bad challenge on Roberto Firmino that was missed by the match officials.
Klopp, who will be without Adam Lallana for another week because of a muscle tear, said: “Harsh challenges should be picked up. I’m not 100% sure but I think if the video assistant referee is not responsible for something Gerald Everett Authentic Jersey like that we should think over the rules again because the ref needs help in a situation like this. I’m sure he would have whistled if he saw it but he didn’t. If you see it on television it’s just horrible.” basketball jerseys for sale wholesale nhl jerseys nike nfl jerseys china nike nfl jerseys 2016 nike nfl jerseys supply basketball jerseys cheap

Please Read Before Posting / Ross Barkley’s stumbling
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:53:02 PM »
There was a funny start to Ross Barkley’s Chelsea career on Wednesday night. As Willian prepared to limp off the Emirates Stadium pitch midway through the first half Barkley, his obvious replacement, was still dutifully gambolling up and down the touchline in his tracksuit.

This didn’t go down well with Antonio Conte who seems, even at the best of Teuvo Teravainen Youth jersey times, to be in a state of constant eye-boggling rage at every detail of his sentient existence. This is Conte’s default mood, his baseline. But he still managed to find some even deeper gears, letting out a shriek, waggling his arms and clenching his fists like a man strangling invisible kittens and generally urging Barkley back down the touchline like the most embarrassing stressed-out dad in the long and detailed history of embarrassing stressed-out dads.
The Arsenal fans on that side roared with laughter. Barkley scuttled off to remove his shirt, all anxious fingers and thumbs. Finally he came on for his first game of football after eight months out, one traumatic hamstring injury and a life-changing move from his boyhood club. His first Aaron Altherr Jersey act in a Chelsea shirt was to fall on his face. His second was to foul Jack Wilshere. His third was to run the wrong way in search of a pass. http://www.officialmlbrangersshop.com/authentic-3-delino-deshields-jersey.html After which things really started to go downhill.
There is something compelling about terrible debuts, a kind of voodoo that is hard to shake. Simon Kerrigan’s Test cricket debut for England against Australia at the Oval springs to mind, when Kerrigan didn’t just bowl poorly but seemed to have forgotten completely the sequence of movements he had been repeating with uninterrupted success from childhood, instead hurling down assorted round-arm lobs like a man tossing wellies at a country fair. He hasn’t been seen since.
Judgments have already been passed on Barkley on this basis, doubts confirmed, cards marked.
Which is a great shame for two reasons. First, because it http://www.broncosauthenticsofficial.com/peyton-manning-jersey_c-507.html does Barkley a disservice. Yes, he was bad, producing a horribly uncomfortable performance, a sense of being unable to avoid or stop or walk away from what was clearly a traumatically raw and rusty hour of football.
He whirled around a lot, finding pockets of pointless space. He looked red-faced and startled in exactly the way footballers really aren’t supposed to be startled, baffled by the patterns around him. Understandably so. Barkley wasn’t ready. He is not an instinctive, natural-genius kind of footballer, those who seem to define the game simply by playing it, to reek of pure uncut essence of football.
Luka Modric, for example, could be dropped on to the storm-racked surface of Mars with just a lungful of air and a football, and in the 40 seconds or so before he asphyxiated Modric would still be able to move and link and pass between the craters and rock piles, even here asserting his own sense of pure footballing ease.
Barkley is not that player. His form and his conditioning are more delicate. With a little care he will show the best of himself. Really, though, the point of interest here had little to do with Barkley and a lot more to do with that genuinely rare spectacle of a professional athlete so startlingly out of kilter. This is the occasional vertigo of professional sport, the revelation, suddenly, of its brutality, its rarified levels.

Please Read Before Posting / Jordan Ayew’s quality finish offers
« on: January 28, 2018, 05:55:44 PM »
A splendid Jordan Ayew goal was the highlight of a miserable evening at the Liberty Stadium where Swansea City recorded a rare home victory – only their third of the season – to overcome the dismal conditions as well as the Championship leaders and secure a place in the FA Cup fourth round.

Ayew’s goal was totally out of keeping with a scrappy game and drew comparisons with the moment of brilliance that Ricky Villa produced in the 1981 FA Cup Terrance West Jersey final replay, when the Argentinian weaved his way through http://www.sanjosesharksofficialonline.com/Adidas-Chris-Tierney-Jersey a sea of Manchester City defenders to score for Tottenham. Although the stakes were not nearly so high here, and the crowd was nothing like as big – only 8,294 braved the elements on a sodden night in South Wales – it was Tyson Jost Authentic Jersey still a terrific goal from Ayew as he wriggled his way past five Wolves players before finishing with aplomb.
Wolves, who are 10 points clear at the top of the Championship, looked uninterested at that stage but Nuno Espírito Santo’s side came to life in the second half. Diogo Jota equalised within Bryce Harper Jersey two minutes of coming off the bench and, briefly, it appeared as though the momentum was with the visitors. Yet three minutes later Swansea regained the lead after Wilfried Bony stabbed a loose ball over the line to set up a trip to Notts County on Saturday week.
With relegation battles and promotion campaigns to win, both clubs have far more pressing matters on their mind than making progress in the FA Cup, yet Swansea will welcome any victory in a season that has been desperately bleak. Carlos Carvalhal talked about “building confidence” in the wake of his second win since he took over and described this as the club’s best performance out of his five games in charge.
Wolves will not be losing much sleep about suffering their first defeat in 15 matches. Nuno made the point that he felt Wolves should have beaten Swansea at Molineux and also said his players had “showed again that we are ready to compete against anyone.”
It was hard to draw many conclusions from a game that clearly meant little to both clubs in the grand scheme of things. The managers made eight changes apiece, which together with the sight of rows and rows of empty seats, as well as incessant rain and a swirling wind, did little to create any FA Cup fever.
Swansea, in fairness, started brightly. Roque Mesa, out of favour since Carvalhal’s appointment, was orchestrating things in midfield and it was no real surprise when Ayew put them ahead with that terrific goal. The striker was about 25 yards out when he picked up the ball before setting off on a sinuous run that ended with the former Aston Villa player registering his seventh goal of the season. “Ricky Villa? I don’t know that [goal],” said Carvalhal. “I’ll find it on YouTube tonight.”
The home team had a couple of chances to add to their lead in the first half. Mesa attempted a spectacular volley that flashed wide and five minutes before half-time Connor Roberts had a chance to mark his home debut with a goal. Running on to Bony’s pass the wing-back tried to slip the ball under Will Norris but the Wolves goalkeeper http://www.tennesseetitansauthorizedstore.com/brice-mccain-jersey-elite got down quickly to save.
Although Wolves came into the game towards the end of the first half the visitors needed a spark and Nuno knew where he could look to find one. On came Leo Bonatini and Jota, two of the club’s most influential players this season, and the latter had an immediate impact. Showing some neat footwork Jota sat one defender on his backside before squeezing a low shot inside Kristoffer Nordfeldt’s near post.
Swansea had started to look a little ragged, yet they still managed a way to hit back almost instantly. Wolves failed to deal with Tom Carroll’s cross and when the ball dropped kindly for Bony, about eight yards out, the Ivorian reacted quickly to stab home.

Please Read Before Posting / Anderlecht’s Uefa charge offers
« on: January 26, 2018, 08:08:24 PM »
Shortly after 6pm CET on Tuesday Anderlecht were charged with infringing Article 19 (3) of Uefa’s safety and security regulations. Not the sexiest intro, admittedly, but the charge against the Belgian champions offers hope for fans being fleeced at European away games year after year. Anger, however, remains the prevailing mood over a ticketing system open to abuse.

Uefa opened proceedings against Anderlecht after the club charged Bayern Munich supporters €100 to attend a Champions League group game in November. Many Bayern fans boycotted despite tickets eventually being reduced to €70 thanks to subsidies from their own club. As at Arsenal two years earlier, when Bayern’s away support was charged €100 to watch a group game, it was time to make a stand.
Their outrage at Dale Hawerchuk Jersey a club cashing in on a rival’s mass following, and at Uefa appearing to ignore their http://www.football49ersofficialonline.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_GARRETT_CELEK_JERSEY.html concerns, was well-founded. European football’s governing body took disciplinary action only against Bayern initially, fining the club €20,000 after their supporters tossed fake money on to the pitch (throwing of objects, according to the charge) and displayed an “illicit banner” – again, according to Uefa’s control, ethics and disciplinary body – that read: “Is your gr€€d now finally satisfi€d?” A legitimate question with a costly answer.
The announcement this week that Wesley Johnson Womens Jersey Uefa will investigate the source of the problem at Anderlecht is a welcome step, albeit one that follows intense pressure and a continuing campaign against European ticket prices by the Bayern supporters’ group Club Nr 12.
It was Club Nr 12 that first accused Anderlecht of breaching Article 19 (3), which states: “Unless the associations or clubs concerned agree otherwise, the price of tickets for supporters of the visiting team must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team.” Supporters of the Belgian club had, Club Nr 12 pointed out, been able to buy group stage tickets only as a package. The total cost to Anderlecht fans for home games against Bayern, Celtic and Paris Saint-Germain was €141.
Uefa’s decision to charge Anderlecht is timely. The rule to prevent clubs over-charging away fans may be well-intentioned but its loopholes are being exposed with increasing regularity. Complaints are rising with prices.
Liverpool this week confirmed they had complained to Uefa and Porto over the Portuguese club charging away fans three times as much as their members to watch next month’s Champions League tie. Manchester United fans are having to pay €101 to attend their last-16 first leg at Sevilla. That is €40 more than Liverpool fans paid there in the group stage, so United have charged Sevilla fans an extra £35 at Old Trafford and are using the money to subsidise away tickets http://www.saintsofficialonlineshop.com/SUPER-BOWL-GARRETT-GRAYSON-JERSEY in Andalucía. Sevilla are now subsidising their fans for the second leg. They have reported United to Uefa for the price increase and for not making 5% of Old Trafford available for away fans. It is an unedifying tit-for-tat that fails to address the issue and exposes Uefa’s weaknesses in combating inflated prices.
Sevilla and Porto may be on suspect ground morally but have not breached Uefa rules. The latter are charging Liverpool fans €75 for tickets Authentic Keenan Robinson Jersey to a game Porto club members will attend for €25. Porto’s loophole is that general admission tickets for home supporters are €75. “It is not apparent that there will be any home general admission tickets sold at €75 due to the anticipated demand by FC Porto members,” read a Liverpool statement on Tuesday. “Liverpool FC has therefore raised this significant discrepancy at the highest level with Uefa and FC Porto, who have confirmed that this pricing structure and policy is in line with previous rounds in the competition.” Leicester fans paid £34.50 at Estádio do Dragão in December 2016. wholesale nba jerseys basketball jerseys discount jerseys wholesale jerseys all wholesale jerseys all

Please Read Before Posting / test in new competition
« on: January 26, 2018, 01:05:03 AM »
Gareth Southgate has welcomed Jack Wilshere’s return to form and fitness at Arsenal and offered the midfielder hope of regaining a place in the national side before the World Cup.

Wilshere, whose progress over recent seasons has been blighted by a series of ankle injuries, spent last season on loan at Bournemouth but, having entered the final year of his contract, he has established himself as a regular at Arsenal since the start of last month. His impressive form http://www.officiallakersshoponline.com/Brandon_Ingram_Jersey has been noted by Southgate and will earn the 26-year-old a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium, with talks continuing over an extension.
“It’s a real plus to see him playing as well as he is and playing regularly,” said Southgate, who http://www.authenticblackhawksite.com/-81-marian-hossa-jersey_c-517.html saw England selected in a three-team group with Spain and Croatia in Wednesday’s Uefa Nations League draw in Lausanne.
“He is a player whose quality nobody has ever questioned. He had a really bad injury that he had to get over at Bournemouth last year. It’s no surprise that took some time but he looks sharp and looks fit and is playing regularly, midweek games as well. That’s great because we want our Authentic Lee Roy Selmon Jersey best players to be available and in good form.”
Wilshere, whose 34th and most recent cap was gained in the ignominious exit from Euro 2016 against Iceland, will face stiff competition to regain a place in England’s midfield but will hope a prolonged spell in the Arsenal side pushes his credentials.
England face “high-quality” fixtures, according to Southgate, against Spain and Croatia in the autumn having been drawn in Group Four of League A as Uefa starts its Nations League, which will feature promotion and relegation and will replace the majority of friendlies.
Wales, under the stewardship of Ryan Giggs, will face the Republic of Ireland and Denmark in Group Four of League B. Northern Ireland, whose manager, Michael O’Neill, has agreed a new contract to 2024, will play Austria and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group Three of League B. Scotland, whose pursuit of a successor to Gordon Strachan continues, will play in League C in a group with Albania and Israel.
Uefa’s new competition is designed to allow teams to play against those similarly ranked and will offer some nations who fail to qualify for Euro 2020 via the normal route a path into the play-offs.
“The whole concept of this tournament is that you play high-quality and competitive matches, so that criterion is fulfilled with the group we’re in,” Southgate said. “We haven’t played Croatia for a little while so we’re looking forward to that and, of course, Spain, one of the best teams in the world.
“It’s good to test ourselves in these games and we like the concept of fewer friendlies and the concept of games against high-level teams. I think that’s really important. We saw in November in matches against Brazil and Germany, the enthusiasm of the players, the supporters and everybody was a different level and Joaquin Benoit Youth jersey that’s what we have to recreate to make international football meaningful.” wholesale nfl jerseys nike cheap jerseys wholesale nike nfl jerseys china nfl jerseys nike

Please Read Before Posting / Due diligence on Phil Neville
« on: January 25, 2018, 07:45:30 PM »
The Football Association, as we know, is keen to learn from its mistakes. One of the major criticisms during the Mark Sampson farrago was that it did not undertake due diligence before hiring. You cannot accuse the governing body of such a lack of curiosity this time.

A thorough reconnaissance mission was undertaken before appointing Phil Neville as Sampson’s successor, apparently extending to scrolling several years back through his tweets. A series of ill-judged attempts at humour emerge. During one exchange with his sister, Tracey, Neville remarks: “u women of always wanted equality until it comes to paying the bills #hypocrites.” Another time he suggests women should be busy in the kitchen and getting the kids ready in the morning. In 2011 Neville tweets: “Relax I’m back chilled – just battered the wife!!! Feel better now!”

Senior FA executives were aware of some, but apparently not all, of his tweets. They decided he was the best person to lead the women’s national team anyway. An original shortlist of candidates, male Greg Mancz Womens Jersey and female, many of whom had proven experience in the women’s game, had been decimated. Laura Harvey, a former Arsenal Ladies manager, opted to take a job with Utah Royals, while John Herdman, an Englishman managing the Canada women’s team, was appointed coach of their men’s side. Mo Marley, who had taken interim charge after Sampson’s demise, removed herself from the running.
Perhaps the FA should have asked how and why a job leading the third-best team in the world ,with youth teams endowed with talent and offering a £120,000-a-year salary became so unattractive. It opted for a man whose only experience of management is in backroom roles at Manchester United during David Moyes’s disastrous reign and at Valencia under his brother, Gary. Also caretaker manager at Salford for one http://www.dolphinsshopnflonline.com/Jermon-Bushrod-Jersey game, he was apparently suggested to the FA lightheartedly by a broadcaster during Christmas drinks.
Once the FA had http://www.officialbluejaystore.com/authentic-17-ryan-goins-jersey.html its man, a sensible move might have Womens Emmanuel Lamur Jersey been to come clean about the tweets and explain that it did not believe they reflect Neville’s views or impair his ability to do the job. Instead it was left to charities and pressure groups to react. When Women’s Aid feels compelled to make a statement 24 hours after the appointment of your national manager something has usually gone amiss.
For all those dismissing Neville’s tweets as harmless banter, the country’s leading domestic violence charity has a different – almost certainly better informed – take. Sian Hawkins, campaigns and public affairs manager at Women’s Aid, said: “This ‘banter’, when left unchallenged, can reaffirm outdated but still worryingly prevalent attitudes of men’s superiority over women. At the sharp end of that is domestic abuse. With an average of two women a week being killed by their partner or ex-partner in England and Wales, this isn’t http://www.authentictexasrangersshop.com/Joey-Gallo-Jersey just unfunny, it is extremely dangerous.”
By most, if not all, accounts Neville is not a sexist. He is hugely supportive of the careers of his sister, a former netball player and now England‘s national netball coach, and his wife Julie, a health food author. Former players and prominent figures within the game were privately saying on Wednesday they have nothing against him and can forgive a series of tweets sent years ago and for which he has apologised. Many wish Authentic New York Rangers Jersey him well in a role in which he could yet succeed.
But for the FA his appointment has been another unmitigated disaster. After the controversy around Sampson, sacked after the detail Derek Newton Womens Jersey of “inappropriate and unacceptable” behaviour (understood to involve relationships with female players) in a previous role became known, it must have been desperate to avoid further damaging public debate. But once again it is unlikely to go away any time soon. cheap nfl jerseys usa baseball jerseys for sale cheap jerseys 90 hockey jerseys nba jerseys wholesale wholesale jerseys usa cheap nfl jerseys nike

« on: January 24, 2018, 11:40:38 PM »
When Uefa first began seriously discussing the prospect of a brand new international competition, back in 2011, their intentions were honourable enough. The lustre of national team football had faded steadily over the previous decade, largely due to the club game’s suffocating spread but also to the contemporary nature of the beast.

Friendly matches, seen by managers as valuable testing grounds but by the Jussi Jokinen Youth jersey public and – in some cases – players as halfhearted trudges, had become little more than ballast in the calendar; qualifying for major tournaments had, for the leading lights, generally become a procession. If the latter owed partly to the geopolitical changes within Europe since 1989 and a slew of successor states whose football infrastructure lagged behind the rest, it merely emphasised that a little agility was long overdue.
The fruits of that shapeshifting will be displayed on Wednesday when, in front of a suitably curious assembly in Lausanne, the inaugural Uefa Nations League draw takes place. It has, to a large extent, flown under the radar so far but from September onwards it will be stitched into the sport’s fabric and replace the majority of friendly games. Uefa’s four-tier brainchild will rattle through six international dates by the end of November, completing a group stage that funnels into a four-team finals competition the following June.
So far, so uncomplicated. There is, certainly for those who still hold international football in high esteem, an innate pleasure in the idea of countries competing in league form, effectively working their way up or down from Leagues A to D in a relatable format. A summer mini-tournament between, say, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain to decide the overall champion has appeal; there is also an element of interest in seeing just where the dust settles for aspirational smaller countries, who will play competitive matches against teams of similar weight. For Kosovo, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein it offers scope to hone a winning mentality where none previously existed.
Yet, even allowing for the fact that any tournament looks infinitely more appealing when there are fixtures to discuss, the lack of buzz has been glaring. If Uefa were looking to create a crowdpleaser, an event that had the dual benefits of helping football development while catching the wider imagination, the fear is that things have moved on at such a rate – even in the last seven years – that the Nations League resembles a dead weight. The clubs’ hold over most casual fans is almost total, in large part due to the unstinting efforts of news outlets, financial backers and social media accounts to make it so. Anything new needs to grab the modern attention span: while other sports – cricket an obvious example – tinker with tweaked formats to do exactly that, the convoluted nature of Uefa’s offering looks decidedly out of step.
A competition that will initially be contested across 16 groups – four in most http://www.texansofficialauthentic.com/TEXANS-GREG-MANCZ-JERSEY leagues, their sizes flitting between four and a patently unfair set of threes – already seems plenty to stay across but the most disappointing element reveals itself at the very end. In March 2020, nine months after the first Womens Tedric Thompson Jersey Nations League has finished, the top four ranked teams in each league that have not already qualified for that summer’s European Championship – via that tournament’s own qualifying series – will be offered http://www.officialsramsprostore.com/Josh_Reynolds_Jersey_Cheap another bite of the cherry. They will enter a play-off round between themselves, with one spot guaranteed for each league.
This means that, unless Latvia are the eventual beneficiaries from League D, there will be at least one debutant at Euro 2020. But the concept could hardly be more http://www.officialcowboysfootballauthentic.com/COWBOYS-ROGER-STAUBACH-JERSEY absurd, particularly when Authentic Miles Plumlee Jersey Uefa have already given ample hope to potential first-timers by expanding their flagship competition to 24 teams. It smacks of an inducement to push their new event through, in the process lessening their own brainchild’s credibility and confirming its Europa League-ification. Scotland were among the occasional European Championship qualifiers to back the idea of a consolation place during early discussions about the Nations League, seeing it as a more compelling plus point than the near-abolition of friendlies and, unsurprisingly, they were far from alone. Perhaps Uefa deemed it a measure that would lasso its disparate members into the new format; soon enough the audience figures will show whether it was worth the added head-scratching.

Please Read Before Posting / Wenger backs Mkhitaryan to recover
« on: January 24, 2018, 06:43:48 PM »
Since Alexis Sánchez’s transfer to Manchester United was confirmed on Monday evening there has not been a single tweet from one of his former Arsenal team-mates to wish him well or say what a pleasure it was to play alongside him. These guys and this club are not noted for their reticence on the social media platform. Sometimes, it is what is left unsaid that Authentic Ryan Grant Jersey makes the point.

Arsène Wenger went the other way. The manager had something to get off his chest on Tuesday morning and he dived right in. Arsenal are one game from the Carabao Cup final – they entertain Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in the semi-final, second-leg on Wednesday night, with the scoreline locked at 0-0 from the first leg – and Wenger was asked whether victory and a Wembley appearance would lift the mood at the club.
“To change the mood?” Wenger said. ‘I have no illusions at all. The mood is decided by you [the press]. Look, we have been in a few finals. Has it changed your mood? No. You celebrate some teams who have not been in a final for 25 years and yet you kill us, even though we have won the FA Cup three times in the last four years. It’s like that. We have to live with that.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s last appearance in an FA Cup final was 1991 and there is http://www.officialnikejetshop.com/quincy-enunwa-jersey-for-sale-c-42.html the sense in some quarters at Arsenal that the British press have anointed them as their darlings – despite http://www.authenticbluejacketsstore.com/-71-nick-foligno-jersey_c-448.html their lack of silverware. Similarly, they feel that Liverpool, who have struggled for trophies in the past decade or so, have been feted more than criticised.
It is into this climate – one characterised by the mentality of the siege and where meltdowns bubble around every corner – that Arsenal welcome Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian, who joined from United in a straight swap for Sánchez, is cup-tied against Chelsea and must wait until next Tuesday to make his Arsenal debut – at Swansea City in the Premier League. The pressure will be on him to provide positivity from the off.
If things had worked out differently, Mkhitaryan would have become an Arsenal player in the summer of 2016. “I met him and we were close at the time but, in the end, it didn’t work,” Wenger said. The attacking midfielder would leave Borussia Dortmund for United; Wenger has said many times that Arsenal cannot compete for players – on a financial level – with either Manchester club.
Mkhitaryan struggled under José Mourinho at Old Trafford and Wenger said C.J. Anderson Authentic Jersey that the challenge for him would be to put the psychological scars behind him – in the same way that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne have done. Both of them struggled under Mourinho at Chelsea.
“You worry about how much it has affected him but it’s a new chance for him and that’s what you want in life,” Wenger said. “With his quality, I’m sure that he will take it. I might have to analyse with him how it went [at United], what we can do, how can we help him?”
It is clear that Mkhitaryan is no like-for-like Sanchez replacement and Wenger raised the prospect of him filling the midfield boots of the long-term injury victim Santi Cazorla. “Personally, I see him first wide but I’m thinking as well that there is the possibility for him to play through the middle, Wenger said. “As a No10? Or even deeper.”

« on: January 23, 2018, 10:57:19 PM »
Lazio won at San Siro on Sunday. An impressive feat at any time but all the more so on this occasion because they weren’t playing there. It was their neighbours, Roma, who had travelled to face Inter but a 1-1 draw between those teams was as good as a victory for the http://www.officialnhlhockeyonline.com/CHICAGO_BLACKHAWKS-c-1087_1095.html Biancocelesti, who took advantage of dropped points to climb into joint third.

They had done their part by thrashing Chievo 5-1 in the afternoon. So much for the theory that the winter break might cost Lazio momentum. This was the fourth time in 20 games they had hit five or more goals in a match – including a 5-2 win over Spal immediately before Serie A’s one-weekend pause.
Remarkable stuff, especially when you consider they lost Serie A’s leading scorer to injury on Sunday Martin Maldonado Jersey after only 35 minutes. Ciro Immobile should have exited much sooner – tweaking his thigh soon after kick-off and making little impact on the game thereafter. Instead it was Luis Alberto who opened the scoring with a deflected effort, and then Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who restored Lazio’s advantage after Manuel Pucciarelli had equalised in between. The Serbian added an elegant volleyed finish midway through the second half before Bastos and Nani completed the rout of Chievo.
You could argue the final http://www.officialtimberwolvesshop.com/authentic-8-nemanja-bjelica-jersey.html scoreline was misleading. Chievo were competitive for long stretches and things might have gone differently if the penalty they were awarded with the score 2-1 had not been overturned on a VAR review. Yet there is something compelling about the way this Lazio side finishes games – refusing to let up even after an opponent’s will has been broken.
Their 53 goals are the most of any team in Serie A, despite the fact they have a game in hand on the majority. They have got there by a different route to the other frontrunners, too, eschewing possession in favour of fast breaks and faster finishing: a ruthlessly efficient brand of counterattacking football devised by manager, Simone Inzaghi.
It’s a system that exploits the http://www.officialauthenticknights.com/Adidas-Authentic-Colin-Miller-Jersey talent at his disposal. Immobile divides opinion, a centre-forward who lacks the all-around game of the world’s best at his position and who struggled badly when called upon to become a more complete player at Dortmund and Sevilla. Yet his instincts and timing around the 18-yard box are exceptional. Limit his role to what he does well, and he can John Hannah Jersey be very effective indeed.
Likewise, Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto have flourished in roles behind the attack, empowered to carry the ball forward and assault spaces that open up when an opponent overcommits. With Immobile running on ahead of them, defenders are routinely confronted with the stark choice of backing off and inviting one of those two to take a shot on themselves, or risking the ball in behind.
Inzaghi has, in short order, emerged as one of the most promising young managers on the peninsula – a fact that Clay Buchholz Jersey only looks more impressive when you consider he is going against current tactical trends. Not bad for a man who was initially only intended as a caretaker appointment in the spring of 2016 and who got the job full-time only because Marcelo Bielsa changed his mind about taking it in the summer.
Perhaps Lazio could have avoided that whole saga if they had listened to the players. “As soon as [Inzaghi] arrived, he just brought this positive energy that made us feel right,” Milinkovic-Savic said during a June interview with Serbian media. “He created this atmosphere in which everyone trusts their team-mates. There are no cliques – where I might, say, only speak to [compatriots] Dusan Basta or Filip Djordjevic.”
To focus solely on the manager, though, feels reductive. Lazio owe their success also to the recruitment strategy that brought in such players as Milinkovic-Savic – these days a reported €100m target for Europe’s wealthiest clubs – for barely a tenth of that sum in 2015. wholesale nfl jerseys nfl jerseys china nike nfl jerseys size chart nhl jerseys china cheap hockey jerseys nfl jerseys outlet

Please Read Before Posting / Everton cannot play
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:04:08 PM »
Sam Allardyce has admitted that Wayne Rooney and http://www.nflbengalsofficial.com/Authentic-Vincent-Rey-Jersey Gylfi Sigurdsson cannot both be accommodated in his Everton team because of their lack of pace, raising the prospect that one of the club’s high-profile summer signings will be forced to play a supporting role over the rest of the season.

Rooney was dropped to the bench for the 1-1 draw against West Brom on Saturday, with Sigurdsson moving from the left flank into the No 10 position. In fact Everton toiled despite the change, livening up only briefly when Rooney emerged to play a big part in Oumar Niasse’s undeserved equaliser, but Allardyce says it is hard to envisage a future where both players would start.
“Last week I said we have not got a lot of legs in the team and we need to be quicker,” Allardyce said. “We’ve increased that with Theo [Walcott] and Yannick [Bolasie] when he gets back to full fitness but in midfield you have to be able to cover the ground. I think Rooney and Gylfi playing together are very shrewd, very clever and talented players but in actual terms of covering the ground it is difficult – it’s not their strength.
“So I have to make a big decision on who plays this one and who plays for next one. For me, Gylfi has been trudging away outside on the left side, so play him in the position he wants to play and see what he can do.
“As a team we are light in legs, in pace. And that is something I have Sean Harlow Jersey to cope with until the end of this season and we look at the whole squad and say: ‘What do we do to make it better?’”
Allardyce’s comments can be read, directly or not, as an indictment on a summer transfer policy that led to Everton lavishing a record transfer spend under Ronald Koeman, who preceded Allardyce at Goodison Park. Sigurdsson’s arrival from Swansea Josh Jones Jersey cost £40m and the return of Rooney from Manchester United, while on a free transfer, entailed wages of around £150,000 a week. Rooney has had the better season of the pair, scoring 10 goals, although Sigurdsson’s form has picked up under Allardyce and the Iceland international is, at 28, four years younger than his team-mate.
Everton’s poor planning is returning to haunt them and Allardyce, who oversaw a marked improvement in the weeks after his arrival in November, is now deeply concerned about a return of old habits. They remain seven points clear of the relegation zone but the turgid performance against West Brom, added to an abysmal display at Tottenham a week previously, has spooked their manager.
Asked whether he was concerned about slipping back towards the dogfight at the bottom, Allardyce said: “Yes, very, especially after performing like that, and last week’s second-half performance. I’ve seen a huge drain of confidence in the players over the space of one and a half football matches.
“The quality http://www.officialauthenticsteelershop.com/WOMENS-SEAN-DAVIS-JERSEY.html of the Tottenham side, I could accept that, but West Brom are in the bottom three. If anyone should be suffering from nerves it should be them rather than us.”
An even bigger disappointment was the double leg fracture sustained by James McCarthy in denying Salomón Rondón. It happened “in his brave efforts to stop West Brom scoring”, as Allardyce put it; the injury looked ghastly and, although no timescale for McCarthy’s recovery has been laid out, he will surely miss the rest of the season.

Please Read Before Posting / Henrikh Mkhitaryan jerseys
« on: January 22, 2018, 08:23:20 PM »
One game – or, more accurately, one half‑game – dominates the memory of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s time at Manchester United. In the league derby at Old Trafford last season, the first meeting in England of José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, the Armenian looked lost. He was partly responsible for the opening goal because of the way he initially did not press Pablo Zabaleta and then finally went far too late, and he was withdrawn at half-time. He did not play for two months after that.

That seems to have contributed to a general sense that Mkhitaryan was somehow lightweight, unsuited to the defensive demands Mourinho makes of his players. It is true that Mkhitaryan is not as robust as many in this United squad, which is, after all, the tallest of any team in Europe’s five major leagues. It is also true that, although he had occasional flurries of good form, most notably in the Europa League towards the end of last season, there were far too many games in which he wandered about uninvolved, looking dispirited and vaguely confused.

The accusation was that Mkhitaryan was flaky, not quite up to it. Given the struggles of Shinji Kagawa and Nuri Sahin to impose themselves on the Premier League, was there something about Borussia Dortmund that meant their alumni were unsuited to English football?
There is, of http://www.officialravensproshoponline.com/Albert-Mcclellan-Jersey course, always an issue when a player leaves an environment as idiosyncratic as Dortmund was under Jürgen Klopp, but the idea that Mkhitaryan did not fancy the defensive side of the game makes little sense given the success he had both Mitchell Stephens Youth jersey with Dortmund and Shakhtar, teams whose style was rooted in hard pressing, in which there is no place for shirkers. In his three seasons in the Bundesliga, Mkhitaryan regained possession through tackles and interceptions 2.7 times per game, 3.2 times per game and 3.2 times per game.
The Ukrainian league perhaps would not offer a fair comparison, even if the data were readily available, but in three Champions League campaigns at Shakhtar, albeit that being a small sample size, he regained possession 4.0, 6.1 and 4.4 times per game. And yet, at United, http://www.authenticgrizzliestore.com/Bryant_Reeves_Jersey he regained possession just 1.9 times per league game last season and just 1.5 this. That suggests the issue is not an inherent failing, but perhaps to do with how he was used.
United under Mourinho do not press in anything like the consistent or concerted way that Dortmund and Shakhtar did. Only occasionally – as for spells in the Europa League final last season, when Mkhitaryan was excellent – do they play with a high line. Often Mkhitaryan found himself having to provide the creative link between a deep-lying rearguard and holding midfield and a distant striker. It was then that he seemed uncomfortable.
Arsenal probably do have a policy on pressing, although it has not been readily discernible for some time. Given Arsène Wenger’s obsession with Adolphus Washington Jersey the Ajax team of the early 70s, Arsenal’s glut of technical players and their lack of players with traditional defensive qualities, they should be a high-tempo, high-line side. But there have been times recently when they have been almost as lax in that regard as they are with extending players’ contracts. But their best recent performances – in the http://www.authenticnikeredskinshop.com/spencer-long-jersey-for-sale-c-35.html FA Cup semi‑final and final last season, at home against Tottenham this season – have been based on an energetic press and Mkhitaryan should fit comfortably into that.
Precisely where he fits in a formation is a little trickier to say. Arsenal this season have used 3‑4‑2‑1 and 4-2-3-1. On Saturday, in the 4-1 win against Crystal Palace, it was 4-3-3. Although Mkhitaryan can play wide – in the Europa League final, for instance, he started on the left of a 4-3-3 – the general perception is he is more comfortable through the middle, which could potentially create problems if Mesut Özil were to agree a new contract and stay.
Could you play Mkhitaryan and Özil together? Potentially, in a 3-4-2-1. With one of them wide, though, there may be a lack of dynamism on the flanks. Certainly with Mkhitaryan and Özil in tandem, there should be no lack of supply to a central striker (albeit there is a danger that an approach based on through-balls falters against a deep-lying opponent). It is a measure of how detached Mkhitaryan often seemed at United that, having registered 15 assists in his final campaign in the Bundesliga, he set up only six goals in his season and Womens Reggie Ragland Jersey a half at Old Trafford, five of them in the first three games of this season.Henrikh Mkhitaryan nike nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys mlb jerseys cheap cheap jerseys 90 mlb jerseys usa nfl jerseys cheap

Please Read Before Posting / how the FA made Phil Neville
« on: January 19, 2018, 12:47:01 AM »
What an amusing inevitability to learn that Phil Neville is the frontrunner for the job of managing the England women’s side. I very much enjoyed my colleague Louise Taylor’s report into the matter, which stated: “It is understood the 40-year-old’s name was initially suggested to the Football Association in a lighthearted manner by a well-known broadcaster at a drinks reception last month.”

This is my favourite How Job Applications Work story since George Osborne’s friends asked the former chancellor for his advice on their pitches for the Evening Standard editorship. Sorry, guys – he had a look at your proposals, but in the end the opportunity was just too good to pass up. A failed candidate for the Times’s graduate trainee scheme back in the day, he proceeded straight to newspaper editor.
Indeed, the latter tale was my favourite How Job Applications Work story since George’s pal Michael Gove decided to knife their other pal Boris Johnson during the post-referendum Tory leadership contest, justifying it thus: “I compare it to a group of people standing outside a collapsing building, wondering who is going to rescue a child inside. I thought: well, I don’t think I’ve got either the strength or the speed for this, but as I looked around, I thought, God, I’m at least as strong and at least as fast as the others. I’ve got to try to save the child.” To which the response turned out to be: police have arrested a 49-year-old west London man on suspicion of blowing up a building he later claimed to be rescuing a child from.
Anyway, back to the Neville appointment, reportedly almost a done deal. I suppose it’s one form of positive discrimination – the FA has refused to let Neville Doug McDermott Jersey be held back by the fact he has never managed a football team, or by Authentic Albert Pujols Jersey the fact he didn’t apply for the job.
Even so, plenty of people are wondering quite why he seems the best option for an http://www.authenticsandiegopadresshop.com/Dave-Winfield-Jersey FA supposedly committed to being less brutally self-parodic in 2018. In December, Baroness Sue Campbell – the head of women’s football – was acknowledging a problem with the lack of female applicants for the position: “It’s not about neglect,” she judged, “it’s more that we haven’t proactively gone out and tried to address the big issues. Now we are doing this.”
Alas, it looks like they haven’t quite done it in time not to have to parachute in a man who hasn’t managed before. Still, you have to admire the FA’s belief that the poor optics are worth it, so very soon after its handling of the Eni Aluko and Mark Sampson cases, which secured it that calamitous select committee appearance in October.
Anyone who cares about England football will wish Neville every success but let’s hope the FA devotes serious time to analysing why it has reportedly been rejected by the more qualified candidates it shortlisted. Fear of scrutiny is believed to be the main reason but should not have been insurmountable. If it has turned out to be, as seems the case, then that is a failing on the FA’s part. This is a great job. England are ranked No 1 in Europe and No 3 in the world, and after reaching both the last World Cup and Euro semi-finals will be regarded as having a good chance of winning the World Cup next year.
Furthermore, Sampson’s salary was said to fall between £100,000 and £150,000 a year, which – while a fraction of that paid to a series of underachieving coaches of the men’s side – isn’t too bad for a part-time job. I am sure Neville can see the opportunities of the position (just as I am sure he won’t be on a mere £150,000).
Perhaps the most controversial thing about the process of appointing the England manager, though, is that it is being managed by indestructible FA technical director Dan Ashworth. Inevitably, it is Ashworth who is said to have personally approached Neville.
Can it really be less than three months ago that people were describing Ashworth’s position as untenable, with Dame Heather Rabbatts rightly predicting nothing would change if he http://www.officialpanthersfootballauthentic.com/Nike-Jj-Jansen-Jersey.html stayed in charge? And here we are. To imagine Ashworth’s position as untenable was always to fundamentally misunderstand the nature of British public life. Whole strata of it are full of chaps who have risen without trace and are seemingly unsinkable. They were being satirised by Anthony Powell in the character of Kenneth Widmerpool in 1951, being a recognisable character type even then. cheap nfl jerseys usa cheap nfl jerseys from china nhl jerseys cheap wholesale jerseys nfl
